The Sullivan Order Entry system requires three main components. Each has its own installation program and section below. System requirements include:
- Windows XP or newer; 32-bit systems are prefered
- At least 800 x 600 display resolution; 1024 x 768 or larger is prefered
- On 32-bit systems, one USB port available for data exchange with Tungsten TX
- On 64-bit systems, a WiFi access point or wireless adapter capable of ad-hoc connections
- Internet connection for submitting orders and obtaining updates (broadband or dialup)
- Printer
- Microsoft Access 2002 or newer; either full version or runtime (available free below)
- Palm Desktop (optional for 64-bit systems)
Install Order Entry
Download and run Order Entry Setup . You may select Open or Run instead of Save As... It is recommended that you accept all the defaults during the installation process.
Normally, this step need only be done once per machine. Updates to the order entry system are typically obtained in the same manner as inventory and customer updates. However, the full installer may be rerun without losing any existing data.
Microsoft Access
In the past, the runtime for the Office XP (aka Office 2002) version of
Microsoft Access was required. However, according to Microsoft it is not
fully compatible with 64-bit systems. Changes have been made which should
allow order entry to detect and use any version of Microsoft Access which
is 2002 or newer.
If the system already has a full copy of Access (included with Office
Professional and some other combinations) it is no longer necessary to
also install the free runtime. In fact, Microsoft recommends you do
not use on the same machine a runtime and a full release of Access which
are from different releases. For example, do not use the Office 2002
runtime while the full Office 2003 version of Access is installed
If you do not have a full copy of Microsoft Access, select one of the
following free runtimes below. To change runtimes, please first remove
the existing runtime via Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs, and then
install the other runtime.
Palm Desktop
Palm Desktop is required to obtain the USB drivers needed for exchanging data with the handheld.
On 64-bit systems, Palm never released a USB device driver so data exchange via USB is not
possible. If using the Tungsten TX for tasks other than Order Entry, Palm Desktop may still be
beneficial.
Obsolete 16-bit Version
The former 16-bit software is available here but should only be used when instructed by technical support.
